Labored. That's what I feel here. I believe there may be some religious imagery underneath the red, and I remember thinking of Byzantine art relics that used gilding, but it felt forced. It takes a certain amount of bravery to use or make religious images, and I didn't have the courage to see it through. -- Adrienne
